Alex Wheatle 1963-2025

I went back and listened to our conversation with Alex: one of the first ones we recorded. It was lovely to hear him talk about his life, his artistic practice.  His decency and talent shone through.

Over the years,  I had enjoyed talking to him as he began to celebrate his connections to Jamaica.  We both had relatives who worked at the same agricultural research station: who knew.

He was a good one.  He will be missed.  And he created one hell of a legacy against the odds.  Vale, Alex. ‘
